Want a simple and rustic cake but don’t want to go full on ‘naked’? Then this textured buttercream wedding cake could be the one for you! I created this cake for a lovely couple for their Mayfair wedding back in April and was lucky enough to work with a fantastic team of suppliers including the wonderful Laura of Babb Photo who took all of these beautiful pics.
The evening reception was held at the stunning Dartmouth House in Mayfair and the couple opted for a four tier cake with 3 different flavours including Luscious Lemon, Banana Choc Chip and Belgian Chocolate all wrapped up in lashing of rough textured vanilla buttercream.
The larger blooms on the cake were provided by lovely Liz of Blue Sky Flowers and the smaller edible flowers were from Greens of Devon. The pale icing on the textured buttercream wedding cake was offset nicely by the deep red flowers adding a pop of colour to an otherwise simple design.
In order to cater for a vegan guest, I created a separate mini vegan carrot cake with orange drizzle which was served alongside the main cake – super cute don’t you think?
Liz created pretty floral arrangements for the tables also in whites, creams, dusky pinks, greens and stunning glossy deep red peonies – my personal favourites.
All of the photos from the wedding are truly fabulous so do head over to Laura’s blog to see the rest as well as all of the other supplier’s handiwork. I was lucky enough to work on another wedding with Laura last month so am looking forward to seeing those pics too and hopefully sharing them with you too!
