Running your own business as a sole-trader can be a very lonely existence at times. However, as I have grown into the wedding industry more, I have learnt that there is such a fantastic network of other likeminded people and businesses out there, most of them being amazingly talented women. As time goes by, and one builds more acquaintances and friendships, it’s always a pleasure when you end up working on the same wedding. One of said lovely people is Joanna Brown of Joanna Brown Photography who I have written about before here.
I was so pleased when I discovered that the lovely couple from this wedding had chosen Joanna as their photographer and I knew of course that the photos would be good!
The happy couple were married at Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire on a wet and windy day back in November. It may have been rainy outside but inside the beautiful country house, it felt cosy and welcoming especially with the couple’s decor accented with deep red and gold.
The incredibly stylish bride (just look at that dress!) played a very large part in the design of the cake opting for layers of gold ombré ruffles with a scattering of deep red hand crafted sugar roses.
It was definitely one of my favourite cakes of 2014 and made it into my favourites roundup which in case you missed can be found here. With so many stripped back naked cakes last year, this one was a real fiddly labour of love in comparison which is the kind of work that I really enjoy! Not forgetting also a little mention to Poppy’s Cake Toppers who created the wonderful little bespoke bear cake topper for the couple.
As a final note, if you are a fan of Joanna‘s work, then you really must check out her new Dot & Fox Print Shop for some fantastic pieces to liven up your walls.
